Due South Realty: Our Story

Mention Due South in Lafayette and immediately residents think of the cool, creative store on Public Road attached to Brew coffee house. Little do they know that before the store was called "Due South Realty," Noel DeVries, the founder of everything Due South, owned an independent real estate company for six years, and before, was an agent for a huge dot.com company. Her independent real estate company did a lot of “fix and flips” of stressed homes - when it was time to “flip” the house, she would stage it with curated items from various places she liked to shop at. Not only would her homes sell quickly, but often times people wanted to buy items from the staged home. Much like Chip and Joanna Gaines from ‘Fixer Upper’, Noel saw the need to take her vision into a store.

Over the years, the store has grown and so has the real estate company. Today, we are growing in our reputation as a company that does business differently. Deep down, all of our agents have a heart to serve and educate their clients and friends in the purchase or sale of a home.

Due South, the store that started it all

As Noel started to consider the possibility of opening a boutique, she realized that some of those dearest to her had their own unique niche to add to this newfound aspiration. She envisioned all their skills coming together to bless the community. Her daughter, Dennae, always possessed an eye for beauty and had her own photography business and a fashion-forward proclivity. Brett, Noel’s son-in-law, wonderfully constructed custom furniture, and Brett’s mother, Cathy, had years of crafting expertise. With the collaboration of individually talented family members, it became clear that this dream could absolutely become a reality.

After choosing to take a chance on the building located in downtown Lafayette, Colorado, this family operation started to take shape. The vision to combine each of their distinctive gifts became Due South - a name appropriately chosen because of their southern roots, and they all hoped to contribute to the quaint, endearing downtown area. What began as a mere passionate hobby gradually transformed into a single shop with so many facets: part of the well-renowned Annie Sloan Stockist Network, a beautiful assortment of free-spirited clothing, custom-made furniture, antique finds with a farm-house vibe, and the stunning and versatile White Side Studio. Each of these makes up the wonderfully cozy and charming Due South store.
